SUMMARY
  • The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
  • Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs, research design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
  • Designs, implements and tests/sources and cost justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency
  • Represents manufacturing on cross functional teams

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span
  • Management; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including layout, assembly and production equipment
  • Product development experience
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to solve complex problems and a variety of changing needs under stress
  • Solid decision making skills

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Computer assisted design proficiency.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Basic mathematical skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication and converting fractions into decimals.
  • Must be able to use and read a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer, dial bore gauge, and various other precision measurement equipment.

REASONING ABILITY
  • Abstract reasoning ability

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifting: Occasional, up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing: 8 + hours per day
  • Walking: off and on, 4-6 hours per day
  • Body positions; squatting, bending, extending arms, stooping, reaching overhead
  • Grasping: both hands up to 4 hours per day
  • Sitting: Occasionally
