Description
Artheon is seeking a CAD Manager to join our team working on projects for various local, state and regional agencies. This position leads the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of CAD standards, systems, workflows, and technology across the firm. This role ensures consistency, efficiency, and quality in project production while supporting engineering and design teams with technical expertise, training, and process improvement initiatives.
The CAD Manager serves as both a technical leader and operational resource, helping project teams maximize productivity and maintain compliance with company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices. This role also drives standardization across business units and alignment with client and agency requirements (e.g., NJDOT, NJTA).
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update company CAD standards, templates, libraries, and workflows.
  • Implement and maintain client specific standards and workspaces for both Bentley and Autodesk products as needed, including regional DOTs.
  • Maintain and adapt drafting and modeling procedures to improve consistency and quality across projects.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality reviews of project files and deliverables. Provide findings and recommended actions to Discipline Leaders and Business Unit Leaders
  • Administer and support CAD/BIM software platforms primarily including:
    • Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
    • Bentley (MicroStation, Inroads, OpenRoads/OpenBridge
  • Familiarity with additional platforms is a plus:
    • Revit/BIM
    • ArcGIS
    • Bluebeam
  • Assist with GIS workflows and implement standards for file structure, templates and workflows.
  • Manage software licensing, updates, deployments, and integrations at the Artheon level, while coordinating with Corporate IT.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, plugins, and productivity tools.
  • Maintain and improve Artheon tools and software customization.
  • Lead technical design education for staff including new hire assessment and system onboarding, user group collaboration, ongoing skill development education, and best practices and workflow optimization.
  • Troubleshoot complex CAD/BIM production issues and coordinate resolution with Corporate IT support and vendors as necessary
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to design technology and production processes including the introduction of automation and process efficiencies.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends and advancements in CAD/BIM technology; industry regulations and client requirements to ensure standards and workflows are coordinated.
  • Maintain documentation for standards, procedures, and workflows; and ensure compliance with documentation and set-up standards.
  • Support project teams with setup, file organization, and project execution workflows.
  • Assist project teams with the creation of drawings and models.
  • Coordinate with clients to ensure adherence to client requirements.
  • Provide technical support and assist staff with project specific tasks.
  • Billable work is anticipated to be approximately 25% of the CAD manager's hours.

Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Architecture, Construction Technology, or related field preferred.
    • 10+ years of CAD/BIM design or management experience in an engineering, architectural, or consulting environment.
    • 3+ years in a leadership, supervisory, or management role preferred.
  • Other Skills and Abilities
    • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley, and other engineering software.
    • Experience with NJDOT, NJTA, and/or MTA CAD workflows and requirements.
    • Strong knowledge of engineering drafting standards and production workflows.
    • Experience managing CAD/BIM standards and coordination processes.
    • Familiarity with scripting/programming tools is a plus:
