Job description

Position Summary 

To ensure the production of safe, quality products by training, developing and managing our employees according to established company standards. 

Essential Functions

  • Manages, trains and develops employees to ensure that they are performing job duties and meeting and executing company goals in accordance with established standards. 
  • Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures (e.g. safety and OSHA compliance, Federal/State/Local Laws, quality control, water treatment) are met, followed and maintained. 
  • Coordinates syrup-batching activities to ensure production schedules are met. 
  • Monitors daily product batches to ensure yield optimization while ensuring product quality so that the company can meet and exceed customer expectations, Pepsi Co standards and company profitability goals; make decisions about continuing production when product does not meet acceptable standards/specification. 
  • Works with management team to ensure facility is prepared for regulatory audits (e.g. AIB, FDA, FCCS 2200, Pepsi Co, Department of Agriculture) according to established procedure and protocol. 
  • Completes and maintains standard operating procedures, disciplinary notices, accident reports and other paperwork according to established company policy; reviews and approves time-off requests and timecards. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of product formulas, pricing, employee information (e.g. discipline, wage information), production and plant records and other sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs other related duties as required. 
  • Investigates hold product; works with Quality Control Manager to determine release or destruction of hold product. 
  • Communicates with outside vendors to ensure the reliability and operation of our equipment and availability of required ingredients so that production demands are met.

Education

2 Year / associate degree in chemistry, biology or related field or equivalent work experience required. 4 Year / bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or related field preferred.

Experience

3 - 5 years of quality control experience. Experience with a beverage company or similar industry is strongly preferred. 1 - 3 years of supervisory experience.  

 

Computer Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Other Requirements 

Knowledge of beverage production processes; blending and mixing processes; water treatment processes; safety procedures; analytical testing equipment; general management principles; Microsoft Office Suite. Skills in: internal customer service; training and coaching. Ability to: train, develop, lead and manage a team; work quickly, efficiently and independently; multi-task; communicate effectively with co-workers and other employees and develop good working relationships; adapt to change; read, write and interpret procedure, safety and operating manuals; perform calculations to mix and test product accurately; operate a forklift, computer, micro testing equipment, lab equipment, delegate; problem solve and trouble shoot.
