Lab Design Engineering Manager 2

This position will be located in Roy, UT or Colorado Springs, CO and will support test and checkout activities supporting the Sentinel, formerly Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), program.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You'll Get to Do:

This is a Section Manager position with the expected 80/20 split. 80% of this manager’s time will be executing the technical statement of work in the design, procurement, and build of multiple Command and Control (C2) labs. 20% of this manager’s time will be as a functional manager of 5-15 engineers, supporting goal‑setting, performance evaluations, skill development and career growth conversations, providing team leadership, engagement, etc.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Executing lab design engineering to ensure successful development of lab capabilities
  • Managing lab design engineering activities from developing requirements through releasing drawing to procurement and build of lab equipment
  • Managing cost and schedule considerations (as a Control Account Manager)
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and serving as Technical Lead during Design Reviews for the Electrical/Mechanical development of lab/test equipment drawings, to include the use of Siemens Mentor Capital and Siemens NX

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience with Master's degree in a STEM discipline
  • At least one year of proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
  • At least one year of experience with Mentor Capital, Siemens NX, or another Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tool
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with completed investigation within the last 6 years with the ability to obtain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • At least one year of experience in testing environments or with test execution efforts.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Functional manager, program manager, IPT lead, and/or other significant leadership role that included people and technical leadership, as well as cost and schedule responsibilities
  • Experience in lab and/or test equipment design, integration, and build‑up
  • Experience with drawing creation and release processes
  • Experience managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Expertise with Siemens Capital software for electronic system development
  • Expertise with Siemens NX software for mechanical system development
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (i.e., CPLM)
  • An Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with Special Program Access

Primary Level Salary Range: $126,600.00 - $189,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
