Job Description

Histology: Under the general supervision by the Medical Director, Histology Supervisor or Lead Histotechnologist, can embed and/or process all tissues from tissue processor. Perform start-up duties for the day. Print and label slides and cassettes. Maintain slide file and block file.Maintenance of Grossing Station, Tissue Processor, Autostainer, Cryostat and Embedding centers. Change histology solutions. Collect pathology specimens from multiple locations for accessioning and sample receiving. Maintain laboratory temperature logs, reagents and assist with putting away supplies as they are received. Log into LIMS system via data entry for sample/waste disposal. Assist pathologists with frozen section. Assist with processing histology overflow to maintain pathology service TAT.

OR

Cytology: To provide support for cytology and pathology services for Hospital inpatients, outpatients, and physicians by receiving, accessioning, staining and processing specimens in the Cytology Department. Will change cytology solutions, print and label slides and assist Cytotechnologist with preparation of FNA, Bone Marrow, kidney biopsy and EBUS if needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Some college education in lab sciences or health-relatedfield preferred.

Prior specimen preparation experience preferred.

Proficient with Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Able to learn computer programs as necessary.

Medical terminology.

Attentive to detail.

Ability to multitask.

Able to type 40 wpm.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

$38.49 - $48.66 USD Hour
