Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Phlebotomist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:  

· You will collect blood samples and body fluids from patients for laboratory testing including blood cultures and arterial samples for blood gas analysis.

· You will register specimens and orders tests in LIS and prepare/label samples for internal or external testing.

· You will communicate lab test requests and results to appropriate staff, departments, and/or physicians.

· You will collect and document urine drug screens requiring chain of custody and breath alcohol when required.

· You will assist with in-services or training as assigned.

· You will assist with administrative duties within the laboratory.

Qualifications:

· Phlebotomy Certification required.

· One year of phlebotomy experience or equivalent phlebotomy training program.

· Excellent communication/people skills and problem solving skills.

· Computer skills and filing/clerical skills.

· High attention to detail and accuracy.

· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

· Valid driver’s license.
