Job description

Join Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Part Time Male Lab Technician in our Substance Use Division (SUD) Lab! This position offers a wage of $16.49–$20.90/hour and provides an opportunity to support meaningful work within our in-house drug testing laboratory. In this role, you will help support clients throughout their recovery journey while gaining hands-on experience in a behavioral health setting. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in science, healthcare, mental health, or community support who is looking to make a positive impact through compassionate, mission-driven work.

Schedule: Sunday-Saturday (Days are Varied), 7:45 AM-6:15 PM (Hours are Varied)
Compensation: $16.49–$20.90 DOE

What You'll Do as a Lab Technician

  • Perform drug and alcohol screening procedures while following strict chain-of-custody protocols
  • Observe and assist clients during sample collection to ensure testing integrity and prevent specimen tampering
  • Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment and analyzers
  • Analyze and review testing data in accordance with SAMHSA guidelines and other regulatory standards
  • Accurately enter client information and testing results while maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment
  • Follow biohazard safety standards and proper handling procedures for chemicals and biological materials
  • Assist with inventory management, supply deliveries, and transporting testing materials between sites
  • Support a professional, respectful, and recovery-focused environment for clients and staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field preferred OR High School Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of related experience
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work professionally in emotionally charged or high-stress situations
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
  • Experience in laboratory, healthcare, behavioral health, or related settings is a plus
