Job Description

As a Coating Operator you will be assigned to work on a coating line and may work in one or more workstations including the face unwind, liner unwind, die, main console/winder, and quality lab. You may be proficient on more than one coating asset in a given location by way of cross-training. You will be responsible for supporting machine set ups, changeovers, problem-solving, coordinating quality resolutions, and supporting decisions on machine adjustments.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

SHIFT: 10p-6a M-F

Activities and duties may vary depending upon site-specific needs.

Essential functions of all position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet production schedules and program production sequences for optimal productivity. 
  • Follow standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel and monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. 
  • Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance. 
  • Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices and consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems. 
  • Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Teamwork: Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals. Participate and share in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility. Contribute and participate in team decision making. Provide support in project work and other special requests. 
  • Follow all required PPE requirements and report any violations, encouraging others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform 5S duties and audits
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed
  • Complete All Safety participation
  • You will be required to perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
  • Inspect general appearance of incoming raws and outgoing finished product and report any inconsistencies
  • Support line operators to resume operational activity during asset down time 
  • Keep area supplied with necessary production materials
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations
  • Dump trash bins and dump recyclables at the end of the shift or when necessary
  • Perform Forklift Inspection
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycle counts and correct discrepancies. Store film rack inventories in proper locations after use.
  • Perform all assignments, duties and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform and maintain training documentation with (trainer, Team leader, and manager)

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred

  • You will need to have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root causes, then communicate / education team in a timely manner. 
  • You will need to be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests. 
  • You will be required to show proficiency with computer applications.

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.
