Position Overview:
Lab Assistance are responsible for all aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing while maintaining the Mission and Values of the Gateway Regional Medical Center.

Education Qualifications:
  • Required: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Required: Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent

Certification Qualifications:
  • Required: Board accredited phlebotomy certification or equivalent
  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification Within 3 months

Experience Qualifications:
  • Must display ability to read and understanding written data and medical terminology
  • Must possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
  • Data entry skills are required
  • Order and report distribution skills are essential
