Job DescriptionPosition Summary:

The REACH Co-Lab within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU would like to hire a temporary hourly employee to support research.

Essential Job Duties:

Construct and operate research facilities for thermal energy systems:

  • Design, specify, and procure engineered components for thermal energy research projects at the REACH CoLab

  • Construct test facilities for thermal systems experiments

  • Fabricate components for test facility using basic machine tools

  • Perform demolition work to create space for new experiments

  • Operate and troubleshoot test facilities to collect data

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university;

  • Experience in using CAD software to design energy systems and components;

  • Experience in thermal systems design, fabrication, and performance testing;

  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation; and

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant industry or academic experience in a research laboratory, especially at the CSU Powerhouse Energy Campus; and

  • Ability to work with various groups of people including students, faculty, staff and other collaborators both within the University and external to the University.
