Home Health Aide Teacher

Title: Home Health Aide Teacher

Employment Terms: Ten (10) Months

Salary Classification: Certified Salary

General Statement of Responsibilities: The Home Health Aide Teacher is responsible for teaching and training students in the skills and knowledge required to provide essential care to patients in home settings. This role includes delivering instruction on patient care, safety protocols, basic nutrition, home sanitation, infection control, first aid, taking vital signs, personal hygiene, interpersonal communication, supervised home management, and emergency recognition. The instructor designs and delivers curriculum that prepares students for certification exams and ensure they are ready to meet the demands of a career as a Home Health Aide.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Prepares students for success on State CTE assessments and industry certifications
  2. Develops, implements, and maintains a Career & Technical Student Organization
  3. Establishes and maintains a local advisory council that includes business and industry
  4. Deliver curriculum covering HHA topics (ADE)
  5. Provide lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in classroom and lab setting, ensuring students gain the necessary skills to provide safe, high-quality care
  6. Teach proper techniques for transferring patients, assisting with mobility, and handling medical equipment commonly used in home health setting
  7. Provide feedback and coaching on clinical skills, infection control procedure, and safely protocols to build student confidence and competence
  8. Instruct students on essential skills for patient interaction, including effective communication, compassion, and cultural sensitivity
  9. Emphasize the importance of observing and reporting changes in patient health and ensuring compliance with HIPPA and other confidentiality regulations
  10. Prepare students for HHA certification exams by covering all relevant skills and knowledge areas (ADE)
  11. Administer practice exams and conduct skills assessment to evaluate students' readiness for certification
  12. Create an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and skill-building
  13. Offer support to students, including one-on-one guidance and answering questions about course material
  14. Make sure students adhere to attendance, conduct, and safety policies within classroom and lab settings
  15. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools that meet required standards and address the competencies required for home health aides
  16. Follow OSHA and HIPAA guidelines within classroom
  17. Ensure that all lab equipment and training materials are properly maintained, sanitized, and used in accordance with safety standards

Certification: Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate for CTE Secondary Education, Arizona Fingerprint Card

Education: Bachelor or Master Degree in Education (preferred)

Experience: 6,000 clock hours of job experience required (CTE Certification requirement) and such alternatives to the above qualifications

Supervision: Instructional Aide

License: Driver's License

Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate classroom equipment and computer
