Job description

Senior IT Administrator

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Senior IT Administrator is responsible for the ongoing architecture, deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of the organization's IT environment, both internal and cloud-based infrastructure. The Senior IT Administrator will be responsible for refining and maintaining IT policies, leading the delivery and timely completion of IT operations and infrastructure projects, providing support on operational issues and incidents as well as other related tasks.

What will do you as a Senior IT Administrator, IT Services?

  • Manage and maintain the operations of server, network, and cloud infrastructure with support from external service providers
  • Work with internal and external team to administer and support Windows and Linux systems, including patching, upgrades, hardening, and lifecycle management
  • Support hybrid infrastructure environments including co-located data centers and cloud platforms
  • Automate routine administrative and operational tasks using scripting and automation tools
  • Drive org wide cybersecurity awareness efforts and other security related exercises (eg. Phishing simulations, pen tests, etc.)
  • Incident, Monitoring & Support
  • Act as a Level 3 escalation point for Service Desk and other IT teams
  • Work with internal team members and external vendors on systems monitoring, alerting and remediations
  • Respond to cybersecurity related alerts, remediate and/or escalate in a timely manner
  • Provide after-hours support for high-priority incidents
  • Create and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and technical diagrams
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of procedures and playbooks
  • Deliver knowledge transfer and process hand-off sessions to Service Desk team as required

  • Experience with:
  • Windows Server & Active Directory
  • PowerShell and scripting/automation
  • Storage technologies (SAN, NAS)
  • Networking technologies (routing, switching, VPN, segmentation, WAN/LAN/WLAN)
  • Security technologies (firewalls, SIEM, Endpoint & Email security)
  • Remote Management platforms (e.g., Connectwise Automate, NinjaOne, etc.)
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016-2022+), Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS)
  • Identity Management: Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID
  • Cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure
  • Web services: IIS
  • Unified communications: SIP, VoIP, conferencing systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes eg. Incident, Change, and Release Management.
  • Experience with task automation and operational efficiency improvements.
  • 7+ years of experience in an IT/Systems Administrator or similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or a related field is a strong asset
  • Effectively work in a model with both internal team members and external vendors in a collaborative and productive environment
  • Possess strong communication skills with a solution focused mindset
  • Self-driven and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to be intentional and provide thoughtful reasoning for actions and suggestions
  • Ability to document technical processes clearly and concisely
  • Experience supporting or delivering small to medium scale infrastructure projects and enhancements
  • Experience with software development or platform technologies (e.g., .NET, MySQL) considered an asset.
