Job description

Description We are looking for a technically skilled candidate that displays good problem solving abilities. The IT Technician duties require the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting and repair of computers, peripheral devices as well as providing support for various software applications within the Agency. Work is expected to be performed with extreme accuracy, exceptional organizational skills, significant independence and problems are referred to supervisor for resolution.

The IT Technician is expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with Agency employees and Management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receives calls for assistance, elicits information, and performs hardware and software diagnostic procedures including the use of software utility programs in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of IT hardware and software problems; and resolves, refers to MIS director, or arranges for vendor service follow-up to ensure that the work is completed appropriately Leverage helpdesk software to log and document incidents including all troubleshooting steps taken for resolution for tracking purposes and future reference Assists in the physical installation of workstations, monitors as well as the deployment of mobile devices such as Jetpacks and tablets Installs and configures IT hardware and software on new workstations and installs and configures hardware and software upgrades for new or existing workstations Performs hardware and software diagnostics to isolate and correct functional problems Utilizes remote control software to troubleshoot desktop issues from a central location to support 16 of our remote Active Adult Centers. Diagnoses and troubleshoots localized IT hardware, software, and network connectivity problems Resets passwords, unlocks user accounts and disable terminated employees for Active Directory accounts Enter and update the Agency Asset Database to ensure its accuracy.

Label and enter all new equipment as well as write-off all equipment that is deemed end of life Prepares simple batch files, macros, and other automated procedures for users as needed. Installs and runs anti-virus software programs to detect and eliminate computer viruses. Troubleshoots telephone, voice mail, and other telecommunications related problems Travel is required to remote locations within Luzerne/Wyoming Counties.

Performs related work as required by the following Agencies Area Agency on Aging, Children and Youth, Drug and Alcohol, Mental Health as well as assist County IT when needed. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of internet usage Knowledge of computers with emphasis on laptops, desktops and network printers. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite Capable of troubleshooting various technological issues Ability to complete required work within specified deadlines Ability to read, understands, and applies a variety of interrelated instructions, such as those found in guidelines, regulations and policies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Good interpersonal skills to establish rapport with and relate to Agency employees Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds Agility to bend, kneel, stoop, twist and stretch to gain access to computer parts and wires.
