Job description


Position Description:
Provides guidance and leadership within a team of DevOps engineers for the implementation of a broad array of testing related capabilities. Leads engineering activities required to strategically enable testing of software with delivery pipelines, including the development and implementation of integrated testing tools and definition and construction of cloud-based testing infrastructure. Supports software delivery using DevOps pipelines for cloud-based applications. Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers and developers to design systems. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for DevOps initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Evaluates and recommends development testing tools and methodologies for a wide array of testing needs.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining a suite of integrated testing tools.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for these tools.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining appropriate cloud-based testing infrastructure that is resilient and responsive.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for this infrastructure.
  • Implements appropriate measures to enable cloud-based test infrastructure to be scalable and employs appropriate mechanisms to enable elasticity.
  • Defines observability strategy and implements appropriate tooling for ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting as relates to testing infrastructure.
  • Define strategy to manage and optimize testing infrastructure through a FinOps lens.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues as relates to testing tools and infrastructure.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing account creation, management, multi-order trading and settlement, taxation, and transaction tracking within the brokerage and financial services industries.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing account creation, management, multi-order trading and settlement, taxation, and transaction tracking within the brokerage and financial services industries.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing, implementing, and supporting solutions for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM); performing version control using Bitbucket/GitHub; creating designed Agile solutions within a large-scale environment; building automation frameworks, using Java, SeeTest, and Maven/Gradle; building systems consisting of Selenium Web driver for Web based and mainframe application automation, using Cucumber and Serenity architecture and TestNG; performing REST Webservice validation using automation scripts developed in Java and Serenity-Cucumber Framework with Rest Assured API Testing Library and Database verification using SQL; verifying traceability and story acceptance criteria between test cases in JIRA/Xray according to SOC audit guidelines.
  • DE defining, implementing, and supporting scalable and resilient Testing Infrastructure (both on-prem and cloud-based) and the enablement of test script execution for Testing Tools at a large scale within a large enterprise; implementing infrastructure that is performant and resilient, using Chaos Testing and Software Resilience Engineering principals via Gremlin and Mox; defining, implementing, and managing solutions -- maintaining images using Docker, Terraform, Artifactory, to ensure that test infrastructure supports all desired and required images for browsers and operating systems based on prevailing business requirements; implementing infrastructure-as-code concepts and technologies using Terraform Enterprise; implementing/creating containerized solutions via orchestration technologies-Kubernetes and Docker; and implementing AWS services with Secret Management.
  • DE prioritizing, managing, and implementing all related Technology Lifecycle Management events related to infrastructure; defining and implementing mechanisms using AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Helm, and Keda Auto Scaler to ensure that infrastructure can respond appropriately based on event-driven changes in workload; implementing pipeline automation and orchestration using GIT, Maven, JUnit, and JMeter Sonar; defining and implementing solutions to ensure that test tools are integrated with other platforms to enable reporting and project tracking and in support of other related policies (gating and security); ensuring that integrated test tools support consistent Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD); and defining and implementing appropriate observability procedure to include monitoring and logging the health and availability of services-FinOps.
  • DE interpreting application architectures using Chrome developer tooling; identifying areas for automation and creating automation test scenarios in Gherkin, using JIRA/XRAY; performing functional, regression, and sanity testing of Web, Mobile, and mainframe applications against data requirements using Selenium based automation framework; performing Quality assurance on enterprise initiatives related to crypto-currency, money movement, asset transfer, account opening, balances, positions, financial communications, and transaction tracking within a brokerage environment; and leveraging Confluence, SharePoint, and MURAL for team collaboration and information sharing.
