Job Title: Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems
Reporting Structure: Chair, Computer Science Department, Dean- CSEM
Division: Academic Affairs/Provost
Job Summary:
Teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Computer Science amp; Engineering. Establish and sustain an outstanding research program and be involved in proposal and grant writing activities. Faculty members are also expected to be involved in department activities, student advisement, recruitment, and mentoring
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teaching, Curriculum development, student advising and mentoring; holding office hours, participation in professional, university, and community service initiatives, as well as commitment to scholarly activities, including research, proposal, and grant writing activities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Commitment to teaching at a liberal arts school. Evidence of successful teaching at the college level is required.
Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and commitment to mentor and educate students of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
Education and Experience:
PhD in Computer Information Systems. Preference will be given to applicants with areas of specialization that complement existing faculty.
Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution (e.g. SACSCOC).
Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+ Certification, Microsoft Azure certifications, Oracle certifications, and Cisco certifications are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Desired areas of interest include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, network administration, web development, machine learning, and mobile applications development.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and applications. Required to stand, walk and sit, talk or hear, both in person and by telephone.
