Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Perform hardware engineering activities within a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers.
  • Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult Mechanical Engineering problems.
  • Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross-functional design teams, including prototyping, production, and test support.
  • Perform detailed design of mechanical structures and subsystems using solid modeling, requirements analysis, trade studies, mechanical engineering analysis (including structural, dynamics, and thermal), drafting and tolerance analysis, and human interface design.
  • Prepare high-quality formal engineering documentations such as drawings, specifications, design presentations to customers, test plans, and test reports.
  • Support proposal activity, providing input to cost estimates and risk assessments.
  • Brief peers, management, and customers on design considerations and program status.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Desire and ability to operate in a team environment is required.
  • Desire and ability to lead teams or individuals in design, manufacturing, or troubleshooting taskings.
  • Experience with mechanism development, generating Free Body Diagrams, performing basic static/dynamic/structural hand calculations, prototyping, packaging, performance specifications, material tests, and research investigations.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use computer-aided design tools is required; Solidworks and Autocad are preferred, MagicDraw and Jira are a plus.
  • Experience designing tests for military environmental, shock, and vibration qualifications.
  • Temperament to work in the lab, shop floor, or office.
  • Familiarity with ASME drawing standards is preferred.
  • Ability to get a security clearance.

  • We are looking for candidates with a bachelor's and/or master's degree in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or a related field.
