Job description

General Purpose

To provide every guest the warmest and most memorable Sonny's experiences through managing the people that make it happen.

Essential Duties

Our managers run the operations to ensure that our guests get that one-of-a-kind experience that they have come to know and expect at each Sonny's location.

  • Hire, train, develop, schedule, and evaluate managers and hourly team members in his/her store.
  • Ensure that our restaurant is safe and professional and that our guests and employees are having fun.
  • Provide clear benchmarks and expectations to hourly team members so that each shift runs smoothly.
  • Oversee and ensure all hourly team members' performance is meeting company expectations through constant follow-up and communication.
  • Respond to immediate store needs (yes, they put out "fires" from time to time --not in the literal sense, that is!!)
  • Execute all operations policies, procedures, and programs within the store (and ensure they are followed by others to keep Sonny's a great place to work!)
  • Report information to the General Manager through plans of action, goals, etc. (they are always thinking about ways to make Sonny's the premier BBQ brand!)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Been there, done that at least two years of related experience and/or training in the restaurant industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Good reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in using computers. You don't have to be a computer geek, but really good computer skills are needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment (so you know what you are getting into)

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Managers are regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time, handle products, tools, equipment, and paperwork, and communicate effectively with guests, other managers, and team members. The job requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; push, pull, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or bend; taste or smell; and talk or hear, and inhaling smoke from a wood-burning cooker. Sonny's is a fast-paced environment and requires constant human interaction and movement.
  • Managers regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of your job, Managers regularly work with or near moving mechanical parts, may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and are requested to work with cleaning chemicals that can be toxic and/or caustic. Managers may be exposed to temperatures between 0F and 100F. As a Manager, you must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job for up to a 12-hour shift.
