Job Description:
Join Pape-Dawson's Murfreesboro team and help shape the future of one of Middle Tennessee's fastest-growing communities. Formerly RaganSmith, our Tennessee team has roots dating back to 1933, when the firm began as a land surveying company. More than 90 years later, that legacy has grown into a multidisciplinary practice of civil engineers, landscape architects, transportation professionals, surveyors, and land planners serving both public- and private-sector clients.
Since joining the Pape-Dawson family of companies in 2024, the Murfreesboro team has continued to build on its deep local relationships and strong reputation while gaining the resources and reach of a leading national firm. Team members have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines, contribute to meaningful projects throughout Middle Tennessee, and support the continued growth of the communities where we live and work.
We are seeking a full-time Engineer-in-Training IV based in our Murfreesboro, TN office. • Identify and analyze the principle design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project's purpose and need
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Prepare written technical reports and engineering studies using approved company format
  • Direct production work of technicians

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil or agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
  • 3-4 years' experience in civil design - site, commercial and/or residential design

  • Experience with middle Tennessee jurisdiction entitlement and zoning along with permitting processes and procedures
  • Previous preparation of TDEC NOI permit applications and SWPPPs
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office Suite
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Additional related duties as needed

Benefits
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Long-term and short-term disability coverage
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • 401(k) safe harbor contribution plus 10% employer matching
  • Premium time paid out to eligible salaried employees when over 40 hours are worked in a week
  • Annual salary review and bonus
  • Tuition and gym reimbursements
  • Parental leave
  • Flexible work environment
  • Focus on work-life balance
