Job description

Description

The Mechanical Designer generates solid geometry computer models and 2D engineering drawings for   product assemblies and components. As a product designer, you will use your skill and knowledge of products and processes to bring innovative designs to   life.

Requirements

  Specific Responsibilities Include:

Use Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD to develop and improve market leading products.

Create high quality designs in a timely fashion to support project schedules.

Design components to be manufactured via machining, sheet metal bending/rolling, welding, CNC machining and other related processes

Create and revise production engineering drawings (assemblies, components, and layouts) that include multiple detailed views.

Check dimensions, materials, and positional relationships of components and subsystems within top level CAD assembly structures.

Collaborate with production personnel to understand fabrication and assembly process requirements and design for cost effective and efficient manufacturing and assembly.

Create and release BOMs for mechanical assemblies.

Utilize Vault PDM to maintain organized file system for production CAD files.

Participate in Design Reviews

Review drawings prepared by other Mechanical Designers and Engineers.

Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.


Education:

CAD certification and/or technical AA degree

5 years' work experience 



Experience and Background:

Skill with Autodesk Inventor and Vault Professional.

Portfolio of work that demonstrates 3D modeling capability.

Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively.

Ability to drive for results, hold self-accountable, and continuously improve.

Ability to work well with others and to participate in a cross-functional team.

Prefer experience in CAD modeling of food manufacturing equipment.

Prefer knowledge and experience with structural FEA software.


Travel:

Some travel for customer visits


Physical Requirements:

Most of the job functions are performed in an office setting requiring minimal safety precautions, however occasional visits to the production floor are also required.
