You will collaborate closely with the Product Development Engineering and R&D teams to fabricate, assemble, and refine mechanical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components and fixtures in a fast-paced, team-based manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support prototyping activities in a team-based manufacturing environment for the Product Development Engineering Department.
  • Perform functions associated with prototypes, including setup, fabrication, and testing of mechanical, electronic, and electro-mechanical parts, devices, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Work with engineers to set up various fixtures for machining, 3D printing, laser cutting, and other rapid prototyping processes.
  • Operate and perform basic programming or setup on CNC and conventional machining equipment for prototype fabrication.
  • Use 3D printers, laser cutters, and other rapid prototype machines to produce components and assemblies.
  • Read and interpret mechanical prints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Apply basic mechanical fixture and electro-mechanical design skills to support prototype builds and engineering requests.
  • Use SolidWorks and other 3D CAD tools to design, modify, and manipulate solid models for fabrication.
  • Provide timely feedback to engineers on prototype builds, including manufacturability, fit, function, and potential improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the entire R&D team, including senior engineering technicians, to prioritize and complete prototyping tasks.
  • Follow machine shop policies and standard operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify part dimensions and quality.
  • Assist with maintaining tools, equipment, and material inventory to support ongoing prototyping activities.
  • Seek out new assignments and assume additional duties as needed to support project and departmental goals.
