JOB TITLE:
Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Instructional Professor
JOB PURPOSE:
The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at the University of Wyoming seeks outstanding applicants for an Assistant Lecturer/Instructional Professor appointment in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, starting August 2026. This is a full-time, 9-month benefited position at the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie, WY.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching commensurate with experience, and enthusiasm to teach undergraduate computer science/computer engineering students effectively. Candidates with interest and experience in software development are also particularly encouraged to apply.
The appointment will be a Fixed-term appointmentwith rolling contractposition as outlined in the University of Wyoming regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaching undergraduate courses in our computer science or computer engineering curriculum
  • Professional development, including participation in state and national professional organizations
  • Service to the department and university, including advising student groups

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant Lecturer:
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the college level, and demonstrated commitment to effective teaching

Assistant Instructional Professor:
  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the college level, and demonstrated commitment to effective teaching

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence and use of innovative teaching methods
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship of teaching and learning, and research interest in undergraduate computer science education
  • Interest in teaching senior design capstone courses
  • Professional experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, or closely related field
