Job description

Title - Application Engineer
Location: Allen Park, Michigan (Hybrid – 4 days onsite per week)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Pay Rate: $48/hour

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Engineer / Software Design & Release Engineer to support advanced Body Controls initiatives focused on next-generation 48V DC-DC converter systems for automotive applications.

This role will be responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, and release of embedded software solutions supporting power management and electrical systems within modern vehicle architectures. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded automotive software development, power electronics, supplier coordination, and automotive software release processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge electrification technologies within a fast-paced automotive engineering environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, testing, and release activities for embedded software supporting 48V DC-DC converter modules.
  • Translate functional, diagnostic, cybersecurity, safety, and quality requirements into actionable software specifications.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Review supplier software architectures, validation plans, test reports, and release documentation.
  • Support software validation, integration, troubleshooting, and vehicle-level testing activities.
  • Track software deliverables, milestones, defects, and issue resolution activities.
  • Participate in FMEAs, design reviews, root cause analysis (RCA), and quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards including ASPICE and ISO 26262.
  • Support cybersecurity and functional safety initiatives for embedded automotive systems.
  • Assist with bench, dyno, and vehicle testing activities as needed.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies related to automotive embedded systems, power electronics, and 48V architectures.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Software Engineering
    • or related engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive embedded software development and release.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Embedded systems
    • Automotive software development lifecycle
    • Real-time control systems
    • Power electronics / DC-DC converters
    • 48V vehicle architectures
  • Experience working with automotive suppliers on software development projects.
  • Knowledge of ASPICE and ISO 26262 standards.
  • Understanding of automotive cybersecurity principles.
  • Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with Ford GPDS tools and processes.
