Meet the Team:

Join the Sensors Team, where we deliver multiple modalities of sensors that are rigorously tested and validated for Torc's autonomous driving trucks. Your role will have a significant impact onย the future of trucking and autonomous technology as we look to Drive the Future of Freight. Weย are currently seeking a Hardware Engineer I who is enthusiastic about thriving in a hands-onย environment and ready to grow with the team. In this role, you will analyze and understand hardwareย requirements, interface with automotive suppliers and stakeholders, develop and overseeย implementation of test plans and procedures, and ensure overall alignment between the hardware components and the system goals.ย 

What you'll do:

The Hardware Engineer I on the Sensors Team will be responsible for working with the team to develop and execute test plans to validate across sensing modalities. ย 

  • Ensure the quality of hardware deliveries by designing, establishing, and performing robust test plansย that trace back to the component requirements. This includes lab-based testing and real-world field trials to verify sensor functionality and ensure automotive-grade performance.
  • Partner with the Component Enablement software team to execute the relevant hardwareย component tests.ย Perform problem-solving activities during design, prototype, and production, driving rootย cause analysis and problem resolution.ย 
  • Partner with the Systems team to interpret system-level requirements and decompose intoย detailed component requirements for each sensor.ย 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports related to the above.ย 


What you'll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Computerย Engineering or related field and 2+ years of experience OR Master's degree in a relatedย field and 0-3 years of experience.ย 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.ย 
  • Experience working with sensor modalities including LiDAR, Radar, Camera, Microphones, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS)
  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS and Jama.ย 
  • Understanding of automotive ECUs and methodologies.ย 
  • Familiarity or experience with data buses such as CAN, PCIe, Ethernet, Automotiveย Ethernet, LIN, I2C.ย 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deliverables.ย 
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive electronics.ย 
  • Experience with high-speed signaling and signal integrity.ย 
  • Experience with standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.ย 
  • Willingness and ability to work across teams, geographies, and time zones.ย

  • Automotive Tier-1 supplier experience or working in a similar environment.
  • Experience designing, executing, and documenting lab-based and/or real-world field tests.
  • Experience processing and analyzing large datasets from all sensor modalities to evaluate performance.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 standards, ASPICE, autonomous vehicles, or developingย sensor modality applicationsย 
  • Experience with processors and microcontrollers.ย 
  • Knowledge or experience in safety-critical systems and applications.ย
