Location: 10036 Aurora Hudson Rd., Streetsboro, OH 44241
Reports To: Operations Manager
Travel Required: Occasional travel may be required between Streetsboro and Solon facilities
Schedule: The standard operating hours for this position are dependent on school load and internship requirements with 16 hours a week being the minimum.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
An Engineering Intern with The Technology House will have the unique opportunity to “get your hands dirty”. This experience will teach you what happens on the production floor involving machine and material capabilities as it relates to customer requirements. In this role, you may work in various departments and interact with all areas of the company.
This knowledge will provide you with supplementary knowledge for your coursework which is often book- and computer-focused. This opportunity will give you a competitive edge over your peers as you will have exposure to machine functions, limits, and capacity.
During your time as an Engineering Intern, the company cannot guarantee you will work in a specific production area. Interns who spend multiple semesters with The Technology House may have the ability to take on some additional tasks or projects. This is dependent on the needs of the business and the availability of project-related work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work on the manufacturing floor and learn the manufacturing process by “getting your hands dirty” in various departments such as machining, injection molding, urethane shooting, additive parts processing, quality control inspection, shipping, assembly, and inventory
  • Interpret drawings and customer requirements and assist with inspection plans
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of customer quality requirements and documentation
  • Ensure customers’ project expectations are met
  • Assist in reviewing jobs for accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current in-process associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field, e.g., Mechanical, Biomedical, or Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, Physics, or Robotics
  • Awareness in one or more CAD software programs, e.g., SolidWorks or Pro Engineer
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Awareness of plastic part design
  • Possession of mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Awareness of additive manufacturing
  • Awareness of DFMA
  • Willingness to learn machine and material capabilities
  • Awareness of QMS (quality management system)
  • Awareness of how to read and create 2D drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 25 pounds, bend into machinery, push buttons, perform lifting, push/pull tasks, kneeling and stooping motions, and use fine motor skills
