Red Dog Operations is both the largest critical minerals mine in the United States and one of the largest zinc mines in the world. In 1982, Red Dog was developed through a partnership between Teck and the land-owner NANA, an Alaska Native corporation owned by the Iñupiat of northwest Alaska. Role Overview

Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Metallurgical Engineering Co-op.

Rotation schedule will be 4 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site.

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist.

Key Responsibilities

•    Assist the metallurgical engineers with their projects
•    Sample preparation in the Bucking Room of the Assay Lab
•    Conduct sludge testing and assist with the operation of the Water Treatment Plants
•    Collect water samples
•    Conduct flotation laboratory test work
•    Conduct small pilot plant tests
•    Calibrating moisture and sizing equipment
•    Small project test work
•    Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

•    Current college or university student working towards a degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
•    Must be proficient in MS Office 2010 and Excel
•    Must have good organization and observation skills
•    Must have strong communication skills
•    Prior plant and laboratory experience would be an asset
•    Respirator use is required, as part of the job is conducted in the mill with significant physical activity

Schedule & Travel: Paid fly-in, fly-out travel with a four-weeks on / two-weeks off (4x2) rotational schedule, including on-site accommodations & meals.
