Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a talented Lead Pipeline CAD - Mapping Designer for immediate employment in one of our AECOM offices (Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; New Orleans, LA) Our teams strengths are diversity of relevance of clients from federal, municipal, utilities, private, developers, and technology developers working on leading edge projects.
The responsibilities below include but not limited to:
  • Uses CADD and 3rd Party Extensions (Blue Sky Skyline and Plex Earth) with engineering input and standards to design pipelines and plan and profile drawings
  • Communicate project specific pipeline design issues with engineering team
  • Take direction from engineering team and project managers on required design changes
  • Imports Survey data and surfaces to build design basefiles
  • Tracks project design changes
  • Performs complex CADD assignments and coordinates CADD drawing production in support of the manager.
  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.
  • Understands the implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Leads less experienced drafters, showing them how to complete more complex tasks and showing them how the design changes impact individual drawings that need updating
  • Assists in drawing production as needed to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience shall be in CADD Pipeline Design, mapping and plan & profile drawings and GIS map development.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of pipeline design (plan and profile design) in Civil3D
  • 5+ years pipeline horizontal direction drill design
  • 5+ years of IFB/IFC pipeline alignment sheet plan and profile drawing creation
  • 5+ years of pipeline typical drawings and permit drawing creation
  • 5+ years working with civil survey data for pipeline design
  • Layer management and editing symbology
  • Creating map templates and sheet frames
  • Familiarity with data shortcuts
  • Creating and editing surfaces and surface profiles
  • Reading survey points and point groups
  • Working with offset alignments
  • Creating KMZs and exporting shape files
  • Handling XREFs and large base files
  • Previous experience utilizing Blue Sky Lightning Alignment Sheet Cutter Software.
  • Knowledge of ArcMap GIS Mapping and Analysis Software.
  • Previous experience leading and/or mentoring less experienced mappers.

  • Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $90,000.00 - $120,000.00.
