Job description

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides medical care under the supervision of a physician. Key responsibilities include taking patient histories, conducting physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, and developing treatment plans. PAs also prescribe medications, assist in surgeries, and provide patient education. Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a healthcare team are essential for success in this role.
Essential functions
  • Perform in-office medical evaluation and management, pre-operative and post-operative care, history, and physical examinations for patients with emergent, acute, and chronic medical concerns
  • Perform appropriate medical evaluation, formulation of care plans, necessary or applicable non-invasive in-office procedures, education of patients, and follow-up appointments
  • Take weekday, weekend, and Holiday call for the practice
  • Document clinical encounters closing office visits and telephone encounters
  • Route medical office charts to supervising physicians
  • Assist physicians directly in the clinic by evaluating and treating physician-scheduled patients independently or side-by-side
  • Manage electronic in-basket inquiries and email including, but not limited to patient phone calls, patient inquiries, laboratory and diagnostic test results, staff messages, carbon-copied medical charts, and other general duties.

Physical demands

Required education and experience
  • Master's in physician assistant studies from an accredited program
  • Physician Assistant license for the State of Delaware
  • State of Delaware and Federal Narcotics Licenses
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (optional)
  • Active NCCPA certification and re-certification when applicable
  • Highschool diploma or GED

Preferred education and experience
  • Previous experience as a Physician Assistant preferred
