Department: Customer Operations
Reports To: Manager of Customer Experience

A day in this role

The morning begins with a customer design review. You open AutoCAD to refine a set of enclosure layouts and panel graphics for a multi-building life safety project. By midday, you’re collaborating with Sales and Engineering to select the right mix of product solutions—PanelVu, Smoke Control, Graphic Annunciators, Prefab, and Shield—so the system is manufacturable, compliant, and tailored to the customer’s needs. In the afternoon, you’re on a call with Manufacturing to validate wiring diagrams and fabrication documentation, ensuring every detail meets company standards and applicable codes. Before you wrap, you capture drawing revisions, update engineering documentation, and log process improvements that streamline the next project.

What you will own
  • Advanced technical design: Produce CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, enclosure layouts, panel graphics, and fabrication documentation for life safety and low-voltage systems.
  • Product line support: Apply and support PanelVu, Smoke Control, Graphic Annunciators, Prefab, Shield, and emerging product lines.
  • Design assurance: Review all outputs for manufacturability, code compliance, and adherence to internal standards.
  • Documentation control: Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation with accuracy and version discipline.
How you’ll collaborate
  • Technical customer support: Provide advanced assistance to customers, Sales, Customer Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
  • Application guidance: Advise on system applications, product selection, and custom solution development.
  • Meetings and reviews: Participate in customer sessions to provide technical guidance and design recommendations.
  • Troubleshooting: Support resolution of technical product and application issues.
Project delivery
  • Develop and review technical documentation and system designs for customer projects.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure requirements are understood and implemented accurately.
  • Verify designs align with customer specifications, company standards, and applicable codes.
  • Assist in resolving issues across quoting, production, installation, and commissioning phases.
Standards and continuous improvement
  • Create and manage drawing standards, templates, and technical documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design consistency, documentation quality, and engineering workflows.
  • Support rollout of new products, technical resources, and process enhancements.
Required qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Solid grasp of technical drawings and system design principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting internal and external customers.
  • Experience in fire alarm, life safety, or low-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365.
Preferred qualifications
  • Knowledge of UL standards and NFPA codes.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP or similar ERP system.
