Position: Engineering CAD CAM / Engineering Design Checker
Location: Chandler, AZ
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Design Checker to review and validate mechanical design and drafting deliverables. This role ensures that engineering drawings and 3D models meet established industry standards, functional requirements, and manufacturability expectations. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in GD&T, strong attention to detail, and experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter environments.
Key Responsibilities
Review and validate mechanical drawings and design packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable industry standards.
Evaluate designs for fit, function, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and tolerance stack-up considerations.
Verify dimensioning schemes, material specifications, hardware selection, and assembly fitment.
Interpret and resolve geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) issues, serving as a subject matter expert.
Perform validation of 3D CAD models and associated data prior to release for manufacturing.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and external vendors to ensure design intent is achieved.
Create and modify fully defined parametric 3D models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Ensure all deliverables align with ASME Y14 standards for modeling and drawing practices.
Support process improvements and maintain design consistency across projects.
Provide technical guidance and may oversee design/drafting activities when required.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong expertise in mechanical design review and drafting standards.
Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and interpretation.
Hands-on experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter (modeling and data management).
Proficiency in ASME Y14 standards for engineering drawings and 3D modeling.
Ability to analyze tolerance stack-ups and assess manufacturability.
Experience reviewing assembly-level designs, including hardware fitment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven engineering environment.
Exposure to manufacturing processes and quality standards.
Prior experience in leading or mentoring drafting/design teams.
