Job Summary
Mohave County Kingman Library is looking to fill the position of a Library Aide.
Mission Statement
The Mohave County Library District provides a network of resources and services offering the people of Mohave County access to global information and personal enrichment.
About the positions
The Library Aide provides exceptional customer service, supports various library work functions in circulation and programming, and assists customers with questions related to library policies and procedures.
Compensation
Library Aide > Range 6 Steps 2-3 ($15.45-$15.91)
Work Schedule: 19 hours per week. Shifts can be:
  1. Friday (6 hours), Saturday (6 hours), Monday (7 hours)
  2. Monday (7 hours), Tuesday (6 hours), Wednesday (6 hours)
  3. Thursday (7 hours), Friday (6 hours), Saturday (6 hours)

  • Must pass pre-employment background screening
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles at the start and throughout the length of employment.

Essential Job Functions
  • Works with customers to assist with self-check circulation, call center, or other service points to answer questions.
  • Checks library materials in and out.
  • Provides initial troubleshooting and problem-solving to library customers and refers unresolved problems to the appropriate staff member or department.
  • Ensures all library areas and materials are neat and in an organized manner by shelf reading, edging, and shifting the collection as needed.
  • Works each service point in the library as needed.
  • Processes payments for overdue fines.
  • Performs searches for library materials and assists Library Assistants with special projects by shelving or pulling materials.
  • Assists with library programs as needed.
  • May assist with library collection development and technical services efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).
  • One (1) year of experience in a clerical, library, or customer service environment.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic library principles.
  • Modern office practices and procedures.
  • Administrative tasks including Microsoft Office products and other relevant technologies.
  • Reading comprehension.
  • Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
  • Perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Abide by all traffic laws and regulations pertaining to operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Use good judgment to carry out and complete work assignments.
  • Work independently in completing tasks.
  • Understand and comply with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulations.
