MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented LINUX SERVER ADMINISTRATOR to join our team in QUANTICO, VA.

This position supports mission-critical Department of War (DoW) IT infrastructure. The contractor will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of Linux-based server environments on classified and unclassified networks to ensure the high availability and resilience of vital national security assets.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu) across both physical and virtual (VMware) environments to optimize resource utilization and infrastructure stability.
  • Drive mission success by implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), executing critical vulnerability patching (IAVAs/IAVBs), and maintaining strict compliance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.
  • Ensure high availability of mission applications and storage solutions by monitoring server health and serve as Tier II/III technical support to rapidly diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network configuration issues.
  • Develop and manage automation scripts (using Bash, Python, and Ansible) to streamline routine administrative tasks, deployments, audit reporting, driving operational velocity and accuracy.
  • Draft and maintain thorough Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), detailed system architecture diagrams, and configuration management logs to uphold organizational transparency and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline and a total of 7 years IT experience.  A total of 10 years' experience without a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in enterprise-level Linux systems administration, preferably within a federal or DoD environment.
  • Meet IAT Level II baseline certification requirements (process active CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent certification).
  • Must hold an active Linux OS certification (e.g., Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory integration, Identity Management, NFS, DNS, LDAP, and secure communication protocols (SSH, SCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct operational experience utilizing Splunk, ACAS (Tenable Nessus), and Host Based Security System (HBSS).
  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, or AWS/Azure GovCloud environments.

Clearance Requirements:

Must have a current/active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $128,000.00-$214,400.00.
