Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician supports daily pharmacy operations by preparing medications for dispensing under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role plays a key part in medication preparation, inventory management, sterile and nonsterile compounding, and maintaining an organized, compliant, and efficient pharmacy environment. The ideal candidate is detailoriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a fastpaced longterm care (LTC) pharmacy setting, with strong technical skills and a commitment to accuracy, safety, and teamwork

Qualifications

• Current state registration as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing

• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred

• IV certification preferred

• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently

Essential Functions

• Enter prescription and physician order data into the pharmacy’s data processing system

• Pull stock bottles and prepare medications for packaging and dispensing

• Affix prescription and auxiliary labels to medication containers

• Reconstitute medications as required

• Package and label prepackaged medications

• Assemble and audit emergency kits

• Perform sterile and nonsterile compounding in accordance with regulations and best practices

• Procure and stock pharmaceuticals and ancillary supplies

• Assist with inventory management and cycle counts

• Support maintenance of pharmacy equipment, environmental controls, cleanliness, and organization

• Utilize pharmacy operating systems, digital imaging software, automated dispensing systems, and Microsoft applications

• Participate in scheduling, coordination, and preparation of medication deliveries

• Assist with training newly hired technicians and student externs as assigned

• Support auditing of patient records as needed

• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives

• Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment

• Ensure patient and resident safety at all times

• Perform other duties as assigned
