Position Description:

The Production Staff I - Compounder is responsible for preparing, mixing, and processing raw materials into bulk batches for liquid personal care products in accordance with batch records, formulation instructions, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This role ensures product quality, consistency, and compliance through accurate material handling, precise execution of batch procedures, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.

The Production Staff I - Compounder plays a critical role in production by operating mixing equipment, verifying raw materials, completing required documentation, and maintaining a clean and compliant manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Batch Preparation & Processing

  • Prepare and stage raw materials according to batch records and production schedules.
  • Execute compounding operations including weighing, measuring, sequencing, mixing, and phase additions.
  • Operate and monitor blending/compounding equipment per established procedures.
  • Perform in-process checks and sampling as required.

Material Control & Verification

  • Verify raw materials for identity, lot number, and quantity prior to use.
  • Safely handle, transfer, and stage materials to prevent contamination or errors.
  • Maintain proper storage and segregation of materials.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately complete batch records and production documentation in real time.
  • Follow GMP requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Record and report deviations, discrepancies, or process issues.

Equipment Cleaning & Area Maintenance

  • Perform equipment setup, cleaning, sanitation, and breakdown between batches.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work area.
  • Support line clearance and contamination prevention practices.

Safety & Operational Support

  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with quality and safety standards at all times.
  • Use basic math and reading comprehension to support production accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency efforts.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior manufacturing or production experience preferred (personal care, cosmetics, food, or chemical manufacturing a plus).
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills (weights, measures, conversions).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures.
  • Technical aptitude and mechanical curiosity preferred.
