Job description

Overview
The Department of Poultry Science is seeking a student to assist with all operations pertaining to the Food Organics Recycling Solutions composting system located at the Charles C. Miller Jr. Poultry Research and Education Center.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Transporting food waste from main campus to the Miller Center using a university owned pick-up truck with hydraulic lift gate
  • Transporting finished compost product back to main campus or other designated areas
  • Weighing and loading food waste and carbon sources into the Food Organics Recycling Solutions composting system
  • Monitoring the internal temperature of the Food Organics Recycling Solutions composting system
  • Collecting and submitting compost samples to designated laboratories
  • Maintaining a clean working environment
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as an Auburn University student.
  • Must be able to work at least 10 hours a week.
  • Afternoon availability preferred but not mandatory.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass an MVR.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull containers weighing up to 250lbs preferred.
