Job Title: Senior Technical Sales Engineer

Responsible to: Chief Technical Officer / Technical Director

Location: Based in NC (Mooresville) or OK (Tulsa) USA

Salary: Salaried, Exempt Full time

Summary and Purpose

SHD Composite Materials Inc was incorporated in August 2018, to service the expanding American and Canadian composite industries. The North American HQ is in Mooresville, North Carolina and became a fully operational manufacturing facility in 2019. The Company also has a manufacturing plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

SHD Composite Materials Inc are manufacturers of advanced composite pre-impregnated (prepreg) materials. With a growing global presence, we can service the American prepreg market with high quality prepreg at fast turnaround times together with world class technical support.

Our core strength is the ability to supply high or low volume, with a wide range of tooling and component products throughout America, and around the world.

The purpose of this role is ultimately “Technical Excellence”, demonstrating strong safety leadership, AS9100 and ISO9001 compliance, and sales team support.

Person Specification

In this role, you will be supporting the existing products and services that our customers are using and introducing new solutions as a value proposition for our customers in a creative way. As such, the ideal candidate will be well versed in advanced composites materials and process technology, materials testing and have industry leading experience in field sales / technical service, good relationship building skills and an ability to work effectively alongside the global SHD team. Strong relationships will be expected to be developed with other functions including Manufacturing and Technical. The ideal candidate will be self-disciplined, proactively working to support and communicate well with both internal and external customers. Some travel will be expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow up and close out on new leads in a timely manner engaging the wider team as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed visit reports and communicate clearly on behalf of SHD customers.
  • Day to day problem solving, & continuous improvements manufacturing and application of prepreg materials.
  • Promote SHD to as wide an audience as possible (exploiting all contacts and networking events / conferences etc.) as appropriate.
  • Work in accordance with the Company Quality and Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • To undertake and other duties from time to time as can be reasonable requested by the company.

Skills and Ability

  • Knowledge of advanced composite materials technology, Problem analysis and solving.
  • Sales and negotiation skills
  • Aptitude for commercial sales and desire to support growth as a key part of a team.
  • Good Technical Communication Skills for support of sales teams and SHD customers
  • Possess desire to acquire an in-depth knowledge of SHD products and the motivation to strive to be an expert in these products and associated processes necessary for successful customer implementation.
  • Strong safety culture and a desire to foster a safety culture through leadership.
  • Strong track record in major prepreg application sectors would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Time management and abilities to prioritise workload effectively.
  • A drive to succeed and grow within a dynamic global business.
  • Must be able to travel to both SHD US locations for support, and to customers primarily in USA & Canada. Some international travel should be anticipated.

Qualifications

  • Experience in pre-preg composite material is preferred.,
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in technical engineering
  • Engineering Degree required (HNC/HND engineering candidates certainly encouraged with necessary experience).
