Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on designing, integrating, and documenting complex aerospace components and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards. You will contribute to the development of reusable satellite platforms and related infrastructure that help make access to orbit more reliable and routine. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment at the forefront of the next industrial revolution in space.

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs and drawings for aerospace components.
  • Author production-ready drawings that apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards to clearly define part and assembly requirements.
  • Develop and maintain model and drawing templates to improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across design projects.
  • Perform surface dimensioning for composite components, ensuring that complex geometries are fully and correctly defined.
  • Integrate mechanical components into larger aerospace systems, resolving fit, form, and function issues within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers and stakeholders to refine designs, address feedback, and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Support design reviews by presenting models, drawings, and engineering rationale in a clear and concise manner.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design and documentation practices, tools, and standards within the engineering team.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, managing priorities and delivering high-quality engineering output on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to author drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D mechanical design, modeling, and drafting.
  • Experience creating and managing model and drawing templates.
  • Experience with surface dimensioning for composite components and complex geometries.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic, high-stakes engineering environment.
  • Background in mechanical engineering with experience in aerospace applications.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate, and complete engineering drawings and documentation.

This is a Contract position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
