Job description

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily activities of one or more operational units. They are required to maintain workflow, staffing, and scheduling to achieve targeted operational and financial results. Being an Operations Supervisor ensures compliance with operational policies and procedures, resolving routine operation issues and overseeing a group of leads and team members. Additional requirements would be to maintain daily tracking of metrics and personnel needs. Operations Supervisors make day-to-day decisions within their department and escalate as needed to the Operations Manager. This position is an onsite, on-the-floor, daily interactive role where you will be able to mentor, coach, and develop, as well as collaborate to help drive the success of your team and the company.

Schedule:ย Tuesday - Friday, from 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Carry out established operations performance objectives considering the employee and safety, customer experience, productivity, quality, and cost.

  • Oversee the operational procedures for the designated staffed area(s) to include the movement of products and processes and monitoring inventory accuracy.

  • Plan hourly, daily, and weekly staffing needs to be based on upcoming demand plans, productivity goals, and expected service level targets to include providing management with hiring needs.

  • Track appropriate metrics and KPIs and communicate progress to leadership and other designated team members as needed.

  • Assist with planning, creating, maintaining, and achieving department-level budgets.

  • Maintain a positive work environment and motivate staff to achieve the highest possible service and cost performance.

  • Communicate daily operational goals to Shift Leads and team members, delegating assignments as necessary to achieve the service and cost goals.

  • Respond to staff performance, quality, and attendance issues and administer timely coaching, training, and corrective action as required.

  • Communicate with other departments & coordinate operations department activities and priorities.

  • Provide solutions to issues within the operational processes; troubleshoot in a timely manner; escalate issues and risks to your managers in a timely manner.

  • Work with management to identify, evaluate & improve all operations on an ongoing basis; participate in the continuous process of improvement.

  • Maintain a high level of discretion when handling confidential matters.

  • Effectively communicate complex operational and technical information to a large team, senior leadership, and vendors.

  • Maintain and advocate for a safety culture at all times, including supporting safety programs and ensuring OSHA compliance within the work environment for all associates.

  • Adopt the BDJJ (Belonging, Dignity Justice, & Joy) framework as a critical component of leading a team and encourage team involvement in organization's commitment to the framework.

  • Ensure procedures are followed for building security and product loss prevention.

  • Commit to personal and professional growth for yourself and your subordinates.

  • Knowledge of operational processes and concepts, especially regarding distribution and logistics within an e-commerce company.

  • Able to access all areas of operations (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation).
