Shift
1st Shift
Description
  • Manage safety & health programs, ensuring prevention of injuries, illness, and property loss.
  • Manage regulatory requirements, ensuring prevention of citations and penalties.
  • Manage medical and worker's compensation related activities.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation (i.e. certificate of insurance, safety training, OSHA log, etc.).
  • Facilitate and attend Executive Safety Committee, Joint Safety/Ergonomic Committee, and other committee meetings.
  • Analyze and submit data for Monthly DART Rate report.
  • Monitor and administer safety programs (i.e. Lock out/Tag Out, Confined Space/Ergonomic, Hot Work/Industrial Hygiene, etc.).
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and audit activities.
  • Assist with conducting accident investigations.
  • All other relevant tasks as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other closely related discipline required.
  • 7+ years relevant safety management experience, preferably within poultry industry.
  • Technical knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Certification as Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, DOT, Worker's Compensation, etc.).
  • Proficient technology and computer skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Constantly stand and/or walk throughout shift.
  • Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
  • Exposure to heat (99°F, 37°C) and cold (45°F, 4°C).
  • Exposure to damp, wet and cold environments.
  • Regularly lift 25+ lbs.
  • Work around live and/or raw animal odors.
