Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Mid-Level Environmental Professional (Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist) to join our Syracuse, NY team. This position will support a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects, with a primary focus on CERCLA-related site characterization, PFAS investigations, and remediation of chlorinated solvent-impacted soil and groundwater.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and execute field investigations, evaluate environmental data, develop technical deliverables, and support project management activities. Responsibilities will include addressing complex environmental challenges related to soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor contamination; remedial design and implementation; regulatory compliance; and site redevelopment. This role offers opportunities for technical growth, client interaction, and increasing project leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and execution of environmental investigation, remediation, and site management projects involving soil, groundwater, sediment, and vapor contamination.
- Lead field activities, including drilling oversight, environmental sampling, remediation system monitoring, and subcontractor coordination, while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate field logistics, laboratory services, equipment, and project resources to support successful project execution.
- Evaluate, interpret, and manage environmental data to support site characterization, remedial decision-making, and regulatory reporting.
- Prepare technical reports, work plans, memoranda, permit applications, and other project deliverables.
- Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, task tracking, and client communications; proactively identify and communicate project needs, challenges, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical solutions for complex environmental challenges.
- Assist with proposal preparation, scope development, and cost estimating for existing and new project opportunities.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff and support their professional development.
Note: The position involves up to 50-60% travel, generally in one-week increments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
- 3-5 years of environmental consulting, site investigation, remediation, or related experience.
- Experience supporting CERCLA, PFAS, RCRA, or state-led environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Experience planning and leading environmental field programs, including drilling oversight, groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and vapor sampling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage field teams, coordinate subcontractors, and implement site-specific health and safety requirements.
- Strong technical writing, data analysis, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Experience preparing technical reports, work plans, memoranda, and regulatory deliverables.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulators, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations and remediation programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with GIS or environmental databases is a plus.
- Flexible, adaptable, and motivated to support a diverse portfolio of environmental projects.
Note: This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Experience with EQuIS, ArcGIS, groundwater modeling, PFAS investigations, or remediation system operation and maintenance.

Pay Range
$75,000-$95,000 USD
The EA pay range for this position is intended as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation or salary. Factors considered when making an offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, and compliance with federal and state laws.
