POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing & Business Development Director will be responsible for the business development, implementation, and management strategies for promotion, sales, and tournaments at the venue. This position will require CRM management and evaluation of bookings and ROI from executed strategies and campaigns. The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience in business development and targeted marketing campaigns. Responsibilities will also include but are not limited to development of marketing campaigns, sponsorship and partnership acquisition and promotion, event promotions, press releases, oversight and solicitation of photography business, graphics, printing and website maintenance. The Director will work closely with the Assistant General Manager to forecast and deliver budgetary goals and to deliver to the sales team leads.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Leadership & Management Skills & Responsibilities
  • Oversees all aspects of the marketing department including, but not limited to, annual strategy development, budget preparation, goal-setting and timeline management
  • Leads ABM campaign development and execution in collaboration with the sales team to accomplish sales and revenue goals
  • Succeeds in "telling the stories" - capturing and effectively marketing the experiential aspect of tournaments, events and activities
  • Develops impactful industry relationships with tourism offices and media contacts to position Wintrust Sports Complex as a national sports destination
  • Utilize cross-marketing to motivate coaches and team representatives to purchase/utilize all available amenities and programs
  • Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assisting in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Accomplishes objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs; developing field sales action plans
  • Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying, and capitalizing on market opportunities; improving product packaging; coordinating new product development
  • Sustains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs; anticipating new opportunities
  • Maintain CRM system to maintain efficient tracking and record-keeping and to effectively market to teams throughout the country

Tactical Skills & Responsibilities
  • Developing digital and print content
  • Manages updates to the company(s) website(s), writes and distributes press releases, and managing social media accounts
  • Manages facility presence with industry publications, trade shows, and associations
  • Prepares and presenting regular reporting on marketing and business development strategy and results
  • Maintains business accounts on a variety of social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. and create on-campus social media campaigns
  • Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and spectators to promote facility experiences
  • Oversees all aspects of the photography department, preparation, staff training, equipment use and care, quality of product (photo galleries) provided to customers and excellent customer service
  • Represents the venue at various national, regional and local trade shows, job fairs, community meetings, governmental meetings, etc.
  • Participates in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Collaborates with Company's in-house marketing agency to organize and execute marketing initiatives
  • Exhibits the values and principles of Company including accountability, collaboration, excellence and service
  • All other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or advertising; or a minimum of 5+ years' experience in a similar position
  • Experience managing a marketing and/or business development budget; identifying and creating opportunities or promotions to deliver revenue goals
  • Measures and reports marketing/advertising campaign analytics to ultimately measure ROI, efficiency, and effectiveness of campaign activity
  • Manages marketing research to gain consumer insights (locally, regionally, and nationally) to identify key selling points for attracting corporate/organization relationships including sponsorship and financial partnerships, or business development activities
  • Management of corporate website(s) in the WordPress platform, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Uses multiple platforms or software for a variety of tasks such as cloud file management or project management
  • Develops content and write with company voice in mind
  • Entry level or beginner knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically in InDesign and Illustrator
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, verbal, and communication skills
  • Must be a team player, deadline-driven, and available to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays and long hours)

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Due to the nature of the sports facility, the Marketing & Business Development Director may be expected to work varied hours including holidays and weekends
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds to waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time both indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions
  • Will be required to operate a computer
  • Facility has intermittent noise
