Job Overview

Wawanesa is seeking a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to attract and recruit talent into our performance-based, values-aligned company. This role serves as a strategic partner to the business, collaborating across functional teams to drive effective and optimized recruitment practices and deliver a best-in-class candidate experience.ย 

Job responsibilities

ย 

  • Develop, implement and maintain talent acquisition and sourcing strategies.
  • Manage the full cycle recruitment for various roles across our business from attraction, to sourcing, interviewing, assessments, background checks and offers of employment. ย 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Hiring Managers and HR Representatives.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and build competence; coach managers in effective behavioural interviewing, compliant interviewing protocol, and effective candidate screening techniques.
  • Source active and passive candidates for current vacancies as well as build pipelines and talent communities for future vacancies.
  • Screen incoming and on-file applicant resumes, and asses for job and organizational fit.
  • Identify innovative and best channels for attraction; advertising of job vacancies on job boards, professional associations, universities and colleges, social media, social recruiting tools, etc.
  • Attend external recruitment events (e.g. campus fairs, career fairs, and networking events) and participate as a company representative.
  • Prepare salary recommendation analysis and collaborate with HR Representatives on the development of new hire total rewards packages.
  • Administer psychometric assessments and background checks
  • Generate employment offer documents and other related materials for distribution to applicants.
  • Maintain communication with applicants and hiring managers throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Monitor and measure recruitment results against Key Performance Indicators.
  • Research and contribute competitive intelligence to the business.
  • Ensure diversity and inclusion is imbedded at each stage in the recruitment process.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience working in full-cycle recruitment, either in-house or in an agency environment.
  • Bilingual in English & French will be considered a strong asset.
  • Completion of post-secondary education.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, able to take initiative and suggest and implement creative solutions.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate courage at all levels and always in the best interest of the company.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, and experience in Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • An openness to change, trying new tools (AI), strategies and tactics to achieve better outcomes.
  • Sound problem-solving skills that can identify and assess moderately complex issues and opportunities that support the business.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization while fostering positive working relations.
  • A true desire to learn and improve continuously, keeping abreast of developments and innovation in the talent acquisition space.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • A team player that can work in a collaborative environment.
  • Sound decision making skills and strong project management skills.
