Meanwhile our original and innovative investigations into river sewage and Covid-19 have led to national press coverage.
Our Financial and Securities Litigation team has worked on many of the most significant global cases involving securities fraud, market manipulation and financial cartels of the past decade, contributing expert opinions, and advising global law firms, institutional investors and regulators.
About this Role
We are looking for an experienced Competition Economist to join our team, on either a permanent or 12-month fixed term basis. This role will manage client relationships and will lead multiple project teams of economic consultants investigating corporate and financial wrongdoing to achieve project goals for those clients.
This role can be based in our New York office.
Key Accountabilities
In this role you will manage a portfolio of economic consulting projects involving competition economics. As an experienced, commercial and relationship driven Competition Economist, you will collaborate with the project team to brainstorm novel solutions to the economic problems in front of you.
Some notable responsibilities:
  • Overseeing antitrust projects and managing a project team of economic consultants
  • Conducting detailed economic analysis of antitrust allegations as part of the delivery of Fideres' consulting mandates
  • Writing comprehensive reports that summarize the key findings of our analysis in a simple, succinct manner
  • Proactively managing client relationships
  • Helping to manage the team to ensure innovative ideas are researched and delivered for our project pipeline
  • Presenting and explaining proposals to potential clients
  • Helping to track and allocate resources to achieve business unit goals
  • Coaching the team on Fideres's processes, writing styles and analytical methodologies
  • Maintain up-to-date records in Fideres's CRM and Project Management systems
Key Skills and Attributes
The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven experience at a competition agency, in a sector regulator, or in an economic consultancy
  • A PhD in Economics is essential
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients (such as law firms and/or regulators)
  • The ability to communicate effectively on complex issues in simple terms
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficiency in python or R would be desirable
  • Strong project organization skills, able to meet deadlines
  • A high level of integrity with a creative and curious mind
  • An interest in coaching, developing and collaborating with others
  • An appetite for networking and connecting people and problems

The base salary range for this role is between $150,000 and $220,000, with a competitive discretionary bonus typically included in the overall package.

The main purpose of our interviews is to further assess your technical skills, your communication skills (team and client) and make sure that you have sufficiently researched what we do and the role itself. More generally it is a chance for us to get to know each other better.
