Job description

Competency Restoration Tutors needed for intellectually disabled clients who have been found incompetent to stand trial due to an intellectual disability. Clients are located in the community in ALACHUA County, Alachua County Jail, and nearby surrounding areas. Training involves the objective of assisting clients to learn and understand the six main areas of the judicial process within a specified period of time. The required frequency is 8 hours face-to-face - per month - for each defendant. In-home visits a must when a defendant is living at home. Must have dependable transportation. Applicant MUST clear a level II background check. Applicants are expected to be proficient in operating a computer, be able to submit well-written reports about training progress (typically every six months) using microsoft WORD. Must have basic "fill-in-the-blank" excel skills. Applicant must have at least a bachelor's degree. Experience in social services, working with developmentally disabled and/or mental health a plus. Services are paid once monthly and reported on a 1099 annually. Pay is based on experience and skill-set. Starting pay is: $25.00 to 30.00 per hour. Must have a PC or laptop, a subscription to Microsoft Office/365 (for Word and Excel) and regular access to WIFI when completing documentation (cloud based via Dropbox). Positions available immediately. 14-15 hours per week to start. Ideal for part-time work; can advance to full-time. Travel is required to go to where trainees live or to the county jail. (Most travel time is less than one hour away).

Live training via Zoom. Training materials will be provided. Templates are provided for all work.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
