What does a typical day look like for someone working in community solar?

Professionals in Community Solar often spend their days coordinating solar project development, engaging with community members to educate and sign up participants, and collaborating with local governments or utilities. They may attend meetings, conduct site assessments, manage project timelines, and respond to inquiries from residents or businesses considering solar participation. The work environment can be a mix of office, site visits, and local events, emphasizing both independent tasks and teamwork with engineers, sales professionals, and community organizers. This variety keeps the role dynamic while ensuring projects are developed smoothly and community members remain informed and involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the community solar position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Community Solar role, you need a strong understanding of renewable energy systems, project management, and community outreach, often supported by experience in solar energy or environmental science. Familiarity with solar design software, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, and knowledge of regulatory policies are highly beneficial. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills help build trust with community stakeholders and manage multiple projects effectively. These skills ensure successful project implementation, community engagement, and the overall growth of solar adoption at the local level.
