Description

COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY: Provide comprehensive psychosocial care to our higher barrier guests, single men, women and families. Perform comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs. Provide referrals and linkage based on outcome of assessment. Engages directly with guests while focusing on complex issues that may have impacted their relationships including, but not limited to, mental health, parenting, separation, adolescence, addiction, grief/loss and trauma.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical treatment plans  
  • Develop implement and conduct psychoeducational classes and individual and group counseling as needed and/or requested 
  • Research, refer, and advocate for community resources, which may include obtaining grants  
  • Respond to crisis situations during regular business hours, as well as after; which may include child abuse and mental health emergencies 
  • Maintain case files and records 
  • Attend meetings on and/or offsite with collaborative partners 
  • Participate in case coordination, staff /program meetings and attend staff trainings. 
  • Facilitate trainings for new and current staff in trauma informed care, domestic violence, crisis intervention and deescalation 
  • Supervise and?oversee?Social Service Associates, mental health interns and/or volunteers. 
  • Encourage guest of faith and growth in Jesus Christ.  
  • Commitment to URM mission, vision, and core values.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college and current registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker 
  • Minimum of two years experience working with or serving homeless individuals is preferred. 
  • Minimum of three- five years experience working with people experiencing challenging life circumstances. 
  • Must have a current CA Driver License and the ability to be added to the company vehicle policy. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply mental health principles. 
  • Knowledge of human development and mental health treatment for men women and children. 
  • Ability to provide comprehensive case management and crisis intervention techniques and protocols. 
  • Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other legal and ethical guidelines regulating social work practice, ie: Duty to Warn, guest confidentiality. 
  • Excellent organization skills 
  • Must have intermediate to advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be internet savvy.  
  • Flexible schedule; willing to work on weekends and evenings as needed. 
  • Must possess excellent people and customer service skills.Â
