Job description

Overview

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking qualified Field Engineers in Bakersfield, CA to join our team.

The pay range for this position is $96,000.00 – $123,000.00 annually. The pay range for this position is for the project assignment at California High Speed Rail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Key duties include schedule input; submittals; preparing field work packages; compiling as-built data; verifying installation quantities; submitting daily reports; performing procurement quantity takeoffs; field safety and quality inspections.
  • Assist Superintendent with coordination of material deliveries.
  • Perform field verifications, inspections and measurements.
  • Work closely with document control and field personnel to ensure they have latest drawings and installation documents.
  • Provide schedule update information to project scheduler.
  • Ensure that work is correctly cost coded and all extra work is coded to separate cost codes as assigned by the Project Engineer or other.
  • Attend necessary briefings, job specific training, and safety meetings while maintaining annual requirements.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a construction related position preferred.
  • Construction management course work or internship experience are a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Railroad Construction experience is a plus.
  • AutoCAD skills are a plus.  Will provide training as needed.
  • Must be flexible in working in both office and field environment as needed.
  • Must have excellent teamwork, organizational, and communication skills (i.e. verbal and written).
  • Must be highly motivated.


Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
