What role you will play in our team

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Media Relations Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and enhancing the company’s reputation through the development and implementation of effective media relations strategies.

This role involves leading proactive and reactive media engagements, identifying topics that will resonate in the media, networking with media outlets, crafting compelling messages, drafting statements and press releases, and coordinating media events.

What you will do

• Develop and implement media plans that enhance the company’s reputation and contribute to business outcomes.

• Interface often with journalists, editors, and media outlets.

• Prepare briefing documents, press disclosures, media advisories, and other communications materials.

• Coordinate and manage media events, including press conferences, interviews, and media tours.

• Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports to senior management.

• Respond to media inquiries and act as the company’s spokesperson when necessary.

• Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels.

• Stay up to date with energy industry trends and best practices in media relations.

About you

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field. 
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a media relations or related role, and 5 years of experience in government or with a trade group that works on industry issues. 
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with experience in AP style. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and extensive professional network in media circles.
• Ability to interpret technical subjects and conveying them in an accessible manner to a diverse audience. 
• Influential communicator, capable of persuading and guiding without direct authority. 
• Quick comprehension and articulation of complex topics. 
• Keen interest and understanding of matters pertaining to energy, economics, the environment, corporate responsibility, and government affairs. 
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
• Proven ability to identify and manage opportunities and risks.
• A track record managing complex, high-stakes issues for a major company.
• A proactive, collaborative mindset, cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with the dynamics of a vast, global enterprise.

  • The expected annual salary range for this position is $130,000 - $300,000. Individual pay will be determined based on various factors, which may include skills, abilities, qualifications, work experience, and education.
