Recreation Assistant

City of O'Fallon, Missouri – Renaud Center

Salary: $23.56 per hour

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a customer-focused, organized, and dependable Recreation Assistant to join the Parks and Recreation team at the Renaud Center. This position plays a key role in providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily administrative and operational functions of the facility. The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering outstanding service to residents and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering telephones, greeting visitors, and assisting patrons.
  • Register participants for recreation programs and collect associated fees.
  • Process facility rental reservations.
  • Manage all aspects of memberships, including new memberships, renewals, cancellations, and account updates.
  • Supervise part-time Recreation Assistants by providing training, direction, and quality checks, as assigned.
  • Receive payments, prepare deposits, and reconcile daily cash reports.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and databases.
  • Prepare and mail membership renewal correspondence.
  • Monitor and maintain office supply inventory.
  • Assist Recreation Specialists with recreational programs and special events.
  • Open and close the Renaud Center.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and department policies.
  • Basic mathematical and cash-handling skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and job-related software.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interact professionally and courteously with the public, coworkers, and vendors.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in customer service, recreation, administrative support, or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
  • CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
