Job description

Regions Hospital is looking to hire an exceptional, experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist Intern to join our team. This neonatal and pediatric focused role would support nursing practice in these patient populations across HealthPartners. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Intern is a clinical partner who contributes advanced knowledge and skills to their nursing practice. While operating within the registered nurse scope of practice, the CNS Intern is actively pursuing an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) degree, within the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) academic track.

In mentorship with a CNS, the CNS Intern supports the integration and advancement of evidence-informed clinical practices across patient populations, departments, or healthcare systems.

The CNS Intern role does not apply to the functions in the Direct Patient Care sphere for prescribing and diagnosing in patient care.

Our Professional Nursing Practice Model offers patient and family-centered care that maintains an unwavering focus on what matters most: caring and healing at the patient's bedside. As a nursing practice professional you will assist in establishing standards or criteria based on the mission, values and philosophy of HealthPartners through our Shared Governance Model, which focuses on evidence-based nursing practice. Our award-winning programs give our patients and their families a place of comfort and healing. We are proud of the care we give each and every patient.

Work Schedule: 0.50 FTE, Day Shifts. No scheduled weekends.

Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a baccalaureate program in nursing and an active RN license.

- Current enrollment in Adult Health CNS, Critical Care CNS, or Adult-Gerontology CNS with completion acquired within an agreed timeframe OR for areas without an APRN specialty certification: current enrollment in DNP program or completion of an advanced degree within an agreed upon timeframe. Must make steady progress towards completion.

- Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota and current license as a registered nurse by the State of Wisconsin.

- Certified Registered Nurse for specialty area within 12 months of hire (e.g. CCRN)

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by American Heart Association or Organization specific training upon hire.

-Demonstrated leadership, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

-Demonstrated skill proficiency in computer literacy or use of a variety of software programs (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Two to five years of current clinical experience in clinical practice.

- Achieve or maintain specialty certification as appropriate to the patient population served.

Benefits: Regions Hospital offers a competitive benefits package (.5 FTE or greater) that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, 401K with match, disability insurance, and tuition reimbursement. We offer an on-site employee fitness center as well as on-site employee clinic to make it more convenient for our staff to get the care they need. We also have a Center for Employee Resilience that provides support and evidence-based practices to bring relief and build resiliency. Regions Hospital is a qualified non-profit employer under the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. Regions is also proud to be a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Company.
