SUMMARY:The Research Program Manager coordinates and facilitates the program objectives of all federally funded research projects and other pharmaceutical and foundation supported studies within established short and long-term goals. Coordinates the research related projects within the department. Administers programs and day-to-day research operations including grant management, grant preparation and financial activities. Establishes systems and procedures for smooth coordination of the research activities. Performs administrative duties, secures and coordinates resources, supervises and supports staff, establishes and maintains partnerships across sectors, and implements strategic plan in service of the department's mission. Provides leadership and oversight to fund development, communications, staff support and development, policy, advocacy, strategic planning, evaluation, and community engagement.Facilitates meetings, special events, and projects.Serves as a representative for the department on related committees, task forces, events, etc.Through collaborative measures, the Research Program Manager creates and maintains an effective, productive team. Oversees the operations of the clinical research program within the department, and with department research coordinators and administrators, to ensure successful implementation of the research program. Monitors the research through internal audits and by working with the resources of the Office of Research Administration (ORA) to ensure adherence to protocols and procedures, sufficient productivity, efficiency, and alignment with other relevant programs. Prepares the annual budget for the Program(s), utilizing external and internal resources.Oversees the effective and efficient management of the research program and ensures its fiscal viability and growth. Develops and maintains accurate fiscal records and reports, secures and manages grants and reporting requirements, and utilizes internal and external resources to meet annual goals. Prepares the research program for the future by ensuring long term financial planning.Assists research investigators in budgeting and managing financial accounts effectively within the guidelines and policies established by the Hospital as well as sponsoring agencies. Resolves problems as required.Develops and maintains accurate fiscal reports on status of research activities and distributes to research investigators and Research Administration on a regular basis. Assists in timely completion of institutional and funding agency reports. Forecasts and reviews financial status of grant monies with investigators as necessary. Ensures timely submission of information necessary to comply with hospital, State, Federal and funding institutions' regulations. Meets on a regular basis with members of the Office of Research Administration, Research Finance and departmental management as needed.Works collaboratively with existing research and academic programs, community-based organizations, state and federal government officials, public health practitioners, students, and nonprofit leaders.Hires, retains, and leads a staff with the focus of fostering a diverse and collaborative environment. Instills a culture of teamwork. May assist in disciplining and conducting performance reviews to personnel assigned to research projects, as needed. Reviews and approves time and attendance entries for staff. Acts as a liaison to the hospital; serves on community and other various committees.Maintains and enhances professional expertise through appropriate educational opportunities and literature.Other related duties as necessary.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BASIC KNOWLEDGEMaster's Degree in public or hospital administration or biomedical sciences is required. The Research Program Manager must have demonstrative knowledge of Federal regulations.EXPERIENCEThe incumbent will have at least six years of progressive leadership and management experience. Experience should demonstrate leadership and training skills, knowledge of research regulations and the ability to work with collaborative groups.Outstanding planning and management skills with experience in organizing systems and people. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and organizations.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWhile duties are performed in an office environment, incumbent is exposed to the patient care environment. Requires walking, navigation of stairs, and standing intermittently throughout the day. Ability to travel locally with regularity, and regionally or nationally several times annually.INDEPENDENT ACTIONPerforms independently within the department's policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor(s) when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYDirect supervision of up to 10 FTEs. Responsible for the overall management of the program's lead staff and oversees the supervision of junior staff and research assistants.

Pay Range:

$78,416.00-$129,355.20
